Events

Working together with Dom Oliver at Resource Productions and other partner organisations and funding bodies, I have helped to create two events and one additional company. We have no events currently planned, but I am looking to get involved with any events in the midlands area.

Same Difference Film Festival – we organised the short films event in this film festival for three years from 2006 to 2008. This was a short film competition with three programmes of short films. My role was to do the call for submissions, set up a selection panel, programme the selected films, liaise with the film makers, cut the programme to DVD, liaise with cinema projection, help with advertising and co-ordinating the event, make the marketing materials, the programme, and source the award.

Media Works – we organised ‘Making Money in the Media’, a conference in 2006, this was a one day event funded by ticket sales and government funding. My role was to invite speakers – Phil Davies (Peppa Pig), Simon Moorhead (Mirror Mask), Dick Fontaine (NFTS documentary), create the logo, branding, website and all media materials, help with advertising and bringing in participants. The event was fully booked, with fantastic feedback.

Sl1de Ltd – Slough Digital Enterprise, we developed this not for profit business in response to the need for a film makers co-operative in Slough and the surrounding area. This is a membership based group who rent equipment and expertise to each other, with insurance covered by the membership fee. We also organised film screenings, networking and talks through this company.
